PRIVATE DINING IN SAIGON: WHICH ROOM FITS YOUR GROUP?
Updated: Sep 30

Before you fall for the restaurant, make sure the room works for your group. Quince has a Level 1 private room, AKUNA lists rooms for 8 to 10, and Sorae takes Japanese dining above the city. They're three different ways to celebrate in Saigon. The right one depends on who's coming, how private you want it and what the whole evening will cost.
You want to spend the birthday or reunion talking to your guests, not discovering that half the group is at another table. Here's what we'd check before choosing a room, including the small charges and booking terms that are easy to miss.
HOW PRIVATE DOES YOUR DINNER NEED TO BE?
A group table works when you want the restaurant's buzz around you. You don't need a separate room just because you're celebrating.
A private room gives you your own space, but ask what 'private' means here. Does the door close? Do other guests walk through? Can you hear the main room's music? A private room isn't necessarily soundproof.
An exclusive venue booking is worth asking about if you need more space or control over the setup. Be clear about which areas you get. One private room doesn't mean the whole restaurant is yours.
THREE OPTIONS, THREE DIFFERENT STARTING POINTS
These three restaurants publish private dining information, which gives you something concrete to start with. You'll still need to check the right room is available on your date.
Venue | Published room information | Consider it for | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
Quince | Level 1 private room; the linked 2025 event kit lists a maximum of 18 | A group dinner built around cooking over wood fire | Current layout, minimum spend and event terms |
AKUNA | Private rooms seating 8 to 10 | A smaller celebration centred on a tasting menu | Assigned room, private dining policies and inclusive quote |
Sorae | Six themed private rooms at Level 51, Bitexco; individual capacities not stated | Japanese dining in a city skyline setting | Room name, seating style, capacity, view and minimum spend |
Think of the occasion column as our take on who each place suits. Before you book, ask to see the seated layout. 'Fits your group' and 'everyone around one table' aren't always the same thing.
QUINCE: WOOD FIRE AND A HOUSE WITH CHARACTER
The draw at Quince is dinner itself: cooking over wood fire, wine and a restored colonial house with character. If your friends are as interested in what's on the plate as what you're celebrating, that's a good starting point. Quince's approach
We'd consider it for: a birthday or reunion where you want to settle in, order wine and give dinner time to be the occasion.
At Quince Saigon, 37Bis Ký Con, you can ask about the Level 1 private room or an exclusive venue booking. Decide which you actually need before comparing quotes.
Here's the detail to double check: Quince's linked event kit is labelled 2025. It lists a maximum of 18 in the private room and a 50% nonrefundable event deposit. It also says minimum spends apply, without giving a room minimum. Use it to frame your questions, then get the current terms in writing.
Bringing a birthday cake? Budget for that too. Quince's FAQs list VND 100,000++ per person for cake service, so ask what that comes to for your whole group with charges included. Quince events and kit · Official FAQs

AKUNA: MAKE THE MEAL THE OCCASION
AKUNA is the one to look at if your group likes a meal with a story. Chef Sam Aisbett's travels through Vietnam's farms and street kitchens shape the cooking, with familiar and less familiar ingredients reworked on the plate. The story behind AKUNA
We'd consider it for: a smaller milestone birthday or celebration with people who enjoy a tasting menu. Give the courses your attention and let dinner be the main event.
You'll find AKUNA Saigon on Level 9 of Le Méridien Saigon, 3C Tôn Đức Thắng. The published private room size is 8 to 10 guests, so start by checking how your exact group fits. Official room information
The reservation terms describe a six course dinner tasting menu. One detail worth catching early: groups larger than six are directed to private rooms with separate policies. Ask for those room terms, rather than relying on a standard table quote.
The published deposit is VND 1,000,000 per guest, with the booking confirmed after payment. General terms allow a refund with at least 48 hours' notice; final numbers are due at least 24 hours ahead, and reducing them after that brings a separate charge. Ask how this works for your room, and get the total including service charge and VAT.
If it's a family celebration, check the ages before you make plans. AKUNA welcomes guests aged 12 and above, and serves the full tasting menu rather than a children's menu. Official reservation terms
SORAE: JAPANESE DINING ABOVE THE CITY
Sorae gives you more than one way to do Japanese dinner: sushi, sashimi and sake, alongside yakitori and other grills. There are six themed private rooms, with tatami and chair seating, so don't stop at choosing the restaurant. Choose the room too. Sorae's food and spaces
We'd consider it for: a Japanese dinner where some friends want raw dishes and others prefer the grill. If you're choosing it for the skyline, check the view from your actual room, not just the restaurant's main photos.
Sorae is on Level 51 of Bitexco Financial Tower, 36 Hồ Tùng Mậu. The pages we checked don't give each room's capacity, minimum spend or cancellation terms. Those are questions for your quote, not details we'd guess.
Ask for the room's name and a current photo or floor plan. Can everyone sit together comfortably? Is it tatami or chairs? Mention any mobility or seating needs now, while you can still choose the right setup. Sorae's official room gallery

GET ONE QUOTE THAT COVERS THE WHOLE DINNER
A beautiful room is only half the decision. Get these four things in the same written quote, so you know what you're saying yes to:
The space: named room, seated layout, exclusive use, access and any finish time.
The bill: menu basis, drinks, room hire or minimum spend, and which items count towards it. Include VAT, service, cake and corkage.
The commitment: deposit, refund deadline, guest count deadline and charges if numbers fall.
The celebration: cake, decorations, speeches, music and dietary requirements. Have the kitchen confirm what it can accommodate.
Use this brief to start the conversation: “We are planning a [occasion] for [guests] on [date]. We want [a private room / a group table], with a total budget of [VND], including drinks and all charges. Please confirm the layout, menu and booking terms.”
